While still growing, the child’s growth plates are not yet fused. Children are very flexible, with lots of cartilaginous tissue that keeps changing. Dr. Heather and Dr. Stephen are careful to ensure they work on the right area and avoid the segments which easily move.
Similar to adult techniques, pediatric chiropractic uses much less force. We use more vibratory pressure and gentle pressure point manipulation. Activator® is also helpful for older children. Parents are encouraged to take part in the adjustment process. Holding the child comforts them and allows us to do the adjustment, in some cases, without them even knowing it.
