Our days are busy and can often get out of our control. It is night before we know it yet we still have a list of to do’s that haven’t been checked off. We feel the stress mounting and worry kick in. We go to bed thinking about what needs to get done and in turn we sleep poorly. Wake up the next day caffeinate so we can tackle the day. We mean to eat right or exercise but life is too busy. Does this sound familiar?

We often think of self care as a luxury but in reality it is a necessity. We get one life to live and one body to experience our life. It is our responsibility to care for our body so we can live our very best life.

There are several ways to practice self care. The important thing is to find a routine that works for you and serves you best. Create habits that promote self care. For example, packing a healthy lunch daily or waking up 30 minutes early to exercise.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

  • Exercise at least 30 minutes a day 3-5 times a week doing something you enjoy.
  • Start meal planning to ensure you eat healthy.
  • Eat 6 servings of vegetables a day.
  • Get adjusted regularly.
  • Take 3 deep breaths a day.
  • Drink 80-100 ounces of water a day.
  • Skip the sugar and eat fruit instead.
  • Decrease alcohol consumption.
  • Get a massage.
  • Write down 3 things you are grateful for every day.
Start with one and make it a habit. You will start to feel better and want to do more things that make you feel better every day.
